Old Courts Creatives

Old Courts Creatives is a new creative development programme for people aged 18-30 in Wigan & Leigh who want to develop as an artist, creative, producer.

You’ll develop your skills, practice and portfolio through workshops, mentoring and the opportunity to make work. You’ll also get the chance to work with other young creatives and professional artists from across the performing arts industry towards a live performance opportunity at The Old Courts.

It will run from Feb – March and is free to attend. It is delivered in collaboration with LUNG and The Old Courts

LUNG is a theatre company creating work that shines a light on political, social and economic issues in modern Britain. This programme builds on their successful Roaring 20s artist development programme that trains, mentors and supports early career artists and young people.

What it will involve

The programme will follow 2 stages.

Stage 1:

  • Weekly workshops and master classes at The Old Courts with industry professionals (this may include directing, performing, producing, writing).
  • Additional professional development opportunities with members from LUNG producers & The Old Courts on budget management, fundraising & producing support.
  • A 1-1 online mentoring and support session from The Old Courts & LUNG producers to support your development.

Stage 2:

  • The programme will culminate in a making weekend with an opportunity to work collaboratively to share something in a relaxed live event at The Old Courts.

This is for people who…

  • Are aged 18-30, who are based in, or have connections to, Wigan & Leigh.
  • Are interested in a career in performance – this could be on or off stage.
  • Are interested in a career in the creative sector, you may have some experience already, or none yet, but you have ambition and enthusiasm!

Key Dates

  • 1 workshop per week running from 22 Feb – 26th March (these will be on a Wednesday evening 6-9pm)
  • 2 Saturday workshops on 11th March and 18th March
  • Full weekend Saturday 25th / Sunday 26th March (10am-6pm)
